A principios del 2002, el guitarrista sueco Joachim Nordlund y el batería Johan Lindstedt formaron equipo y decidieron escribir algunas canciones de metal con el espíritu de clásicos como Rainbow, Dio, Black Sabbath y Deep Purple. Hablaron con Nils Patrik Johanson, un viejo amigo de Johan, para preguntarle si quería ser el cantante en este proyecto. Nils Patrik aceptó la oferta y Astral Doors estaba ya más cerca de ser una realidad. Joachim le preguntó a Jocke Roberg si quería unirse a la banda, y un apretón de manos más tarde ya formaba parte de ella como teclista. Martin Haglund de “Universal Puppies” fue llamado para ocupar el puesto de bajista. WarCry es una banda de Heavy metal y Power metal fundada en 2001 en Asturias, España, cuando el vocalista Víctor García y el baterista Alberto Ardines fueron expulsados de Avalanch.

Al principio, las letras de WarCry estaban centradas en una naturaleza épica y fantástica, con temas medievales y mitológicos y un estilo de heavy con baterías un poco más rápidas de lo común. Más recientemente, las letras han hecho referencia a experiencias sociales y personales. El estilo musical también cambió hacia tempos más rápidos y armonías de parejas de guitarras como metal heavy/progresivo. WarCry ha lanzado ya ocho álbumes de estudio y dos álbumes en directo, uno de los cuales recibió una certificación de oro en España. A pesar de ser una banda relativamente nueva, WarCry ha recibido varios premios y reconocimientos en España, al igual que todos los miembros que han formado parte de ella.
